January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

August 11th 2018, 6:38 am
Rebe's head tilted slightly to the side when Kitanda explained to her what had brought on such a melancholy mood. Silvertongue? Her eyes trailed over to her two sons once more, and specifically at the smaller and darker of the two. Now that she thought about it, Silvertongue had reminded her of someone when he was born, though she had simply assumed it to be herself at the time. The young pup certainly looked nothing like his father. Unfortunately for him, Silvertongue had inherited most of Rebe's features, right down to his slender, refined, and somewhat feminine build. Perhaps it was Jana's personality who he'd subconsciously reminded her of, though. She gave Kit a sympathetic look, feeling sorry for her. Rebe had lost children, as well, but at least she still had her two sons and her adopted daughter. And honestly, that was enough for her. She gave her sister a comforting nuzzle before standing to follow Mzuri out foraging. Ugh... If one of her siblings had to be in charge instead of herself, then why oh why couldn't it have been Kitanda? At least that might have been more tolerable.

Silvertongue had rolled his eyes at Piper. He wasn't afraid of the adults. He was simply wise enough to realize that he and his brother's position within the mob was not of the highest tier, and therefore it wouldn't benefit them to pick real fights with other pups while their parents were around to reprimand them. And besides, any fight would've been broken up in an instant. There was no real point in getting into trouble over something that would'n't even last ten seconds. With a slight frown he turned to make sure that his brother wasn't angry with him for stepping in. Endymion appeared to be annoyed, but thankfully not at him. In all honestly, he'd not really have known what to do with himself if his brother ever decided that he didn't want a shadow constantly trailing after him. The lithe pup relaxed slightly and quickly followed Endymion when prompted to do so.

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

August 12th 2018, 12:48 am
Kitanda smiles softly at the memory of her pups, simply nodding to Rebe.  She became a mother before Rebe did, of course, but you never forget your first litter.  Originally, she had been ashamed that she had fallen for the advances of rover, having been very loyal to the Villains even then, but she changed her mind the second her pups were born.  Satami and Jana were fresh in her mind, and she couldn't help but feel a little envious of Rebe, but tried her best to keep it to herself.  She was happy for both her sisters, and loved them both dearly.  She returns Rebe's nuzzle and gazes around for a moment before following Mzuri out foraging.  Within a few moments she's back to her normal energetic self, eager to at least try and get a good meal today.  At least there are no nursing pups to feed right now.  At least, not yet.  She had no idea that her niece had given birth, just a short walk away from where the Villains were headed...

Venom watches Diem go and doesn't think twice before bounding after her new friend.  She immediately trips, however, and after a moment it becomes clear that there's something wrong with her.  The little white bundle is having a hard time keeping up, and upon closer inspection, the problem seems to be with her back legs.  They're heavily scarred and not very strong.  She begins to fall behind.  Instead of calling out to the group, however, she stays silent and keeps trying to keep up with the group, with little success.  Her mother always responded to her cries with irritation, so at some point, in her desire to please her mother she learned not to call out for help with her physical challenges.  She does, however, bark out Diem's name... She didn't expect the group to slow down for her, but Diem seemed nice, so maybe she would...

Piper smirks at her cousins, sneering slightly, but she soon returns to her normal reserved self, or at least, the self that most of the Villains were used to seeing, and bounds after the group.  She'll get the better of them, someday.  She notices Venom falling behind and shakes her head a little.

***

Moze was happy to have her pups at her side at last.  She had spent so much time dreading this day, feeling ashamed of her predicament, but she had always been a little excited at the idea of being a mother, too.  She loved pups, and although she had never really done babysitting duty, always loved interacting with them.  She wanted nothing more than to lye here with them, cuddling her new babies forever.  Although, that might just be the exhaustion talking... exhaustion and hunger.  Giving birth had been difficult and she suddenly found herself ravenous.  Instinct urged her to eat, because soon, her pups would be hungry, too.  She noticed that Pacific had a millipede but it didn't occur to her that he had brought it for her.  She gave him a polite smile and rushed past him to head outside.

Moze immediately began digging, rather desperately.  It wasn't long before she remembered the drought.  That's right... in the joy of becoming a mother, she had completely forgotten about the bleak situation she was in.  As she continued digging, she realized how difficult feeding such a large litter was bound to be.  As she continued thinking, she paused.  They were in the middle of a drought, and there were only two adults to care for them.  Now she was frozen in fear; predators were desperate, food was scarce, and competition was bound to get tough... her nervous disposition kicked in, and Moze started to tremble.  What was going to happen to them?  She... she just got her pups... she didn't want to lose them... Shrinking to the ground, Moze's thoughts drifted to her family... the Villains.  She... she missed Lucky.  She missed her mother.  What would Rebe done if she'd been here? Would she scold her, or comfort her? She tended to assume the former.  Moze had been very clingy as a pup, but they'd had a few fights, and drifted away from each other since then.  She shed a few tears, but tried to shrug it off and dig even harder.  Her pups would be hungry soon, and she didn't want to let them down...

***

Unfortunately, things were not going Moze's way.  The Lavas had entered Villains territory, and their matriarch, Poison, was hungry for revenge, and for blood.  And, even more dangerous, she had an ambition to prove her worth.  Poison became very dangerous when her mind was made up, and even more so when paired with her determination.  It was all a perfect storm for disaster, with Pacific, Moze, and her pups right in its path.  As Poison made her way through the bush, she rubbed up against a few plants here and there, but she's moving at a steady pace.  She's waiting until they're far enough in to start laying claim on territory, and start making her way back towards the usual border.  In addition, she is absolutely looking for trouble.  It's time their neighbors learned not to mess with the Lavas without expecting consequences.  It has also become clear that this is something Poison wants all the pups to participate in.  She wasn't very old when her mother had her participate in a battle, and with the exception of Violet, the other pups typically fought with mobs like the Linklus and Peppers, as well.  In fact, if she hadn't helped Volcanopaw fight the Kittys, she would not have met Toxic at such a young age, either.  Poison wanted her mob to be in shape, because inevitably, they would come face to face with the Unspeakables again.  They had to be ready, even the younger generation, and this was all a part of that.

Looking back at the Lavas, Poison spots her daughter, Bleach, getting a little too far from the group.  Bleach was independent and tended to do her own thing, but this was one lesson she wasn't going to escape from.  She barks hardly at the pup, and like a rebellious teenager, Bleach growls but grudgingly obeys her mother.  She casts a glare at her sister, Poison Dart, before following.  If Bleach was going to fight, she was determined to outdo her rival, no matter what it took...

All too aware of Poison's intentions to include the pups, Tuhi is shivering nervously, and has been for the past few minutes.  This is his first 'attack' in quite some time; he thought he had gained control over his condition, but this whole situation seems to have pushed him over the edge.  He had been quite happy this morning, but it shouldn't come to a surprise.  Living in the Lavas, a battle was inevitable, but he had never imagined that Poison would want his three daughters to be taking part, even if they were three months old by now.  The fact that they began on the Linklus' border didn't help at all; even if he knew it was likely to happen someday, Tuhi was terrified at the thought of possibly hurting his family.  But that was nothing compared to the idea of possibly losing his daughters, especially considering what he had gone through as a pup.  This combination of triggers is what had brought back his weakness to fear, but even then, it's nothing compared to the attacks he experienced as a pup, largely because London was there.  He brushed up against her not just for  his own comfort, but for his.  He knew, that with her kind heart, that London was just as scared for their kids as he was, if not more so.  But it was thanks to London that he had managed to cope over the past year.  He would be there for her, just as she had been there for him.  First making sure that their daughters were within his reach, he leans over and nuzzles her softly.  It's all just as much to help her calm down as it is to calm himself, and sure enough, his trembling starts to become less severe.  Tuhi leans against London as he walks.  He hasn't forgotten the love and loyalty his mate and friend had shown him.

Jazz, on the other hand, is super excited at the thought of being able to help the grown ups fight their rivals.  She doesn't quite understand what that means, but she's really eager to find out.  She starts to run forward, wanting to get to their destination a little faster, but is pulled back by her overprotective father.  She whines in disappointment, and Tuhi chrrs softly, asking her to stay close.  Jazz frowns but listens, this time.

Tiny, frail little Honeybee huddles beside her mother, Cindy.  She's a little nervous.

Tahu and Lewa are both very excited.  Lewa is jumping about and yipping excitedly, and Tahu is growling.  Although obviously looking forward to this, he's impatient, and barks.  Are we there yet?!

Alexandra rolls her eyes at Tahu.  She's looking forward to this, for her own reasons.  She may be a subordinate pup with no mother, but she wants to prove herself, one way or another...

Poison barks back at Tahu, and continues on, before suddenly coming to a stop.  They'll start here.  She begins aggressively scent-marking.  Moze and Pacific are actually just ten yards away, but there's tall grass hiding them from view.  If they can keep quiet and the wind doesn't change direction, they may go unnoticed.  Unless, of course, someone decides to climb a tree...

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

How precious these tiny lives were to her. How overjoyed he was to see his friend happy. However, six pups born within a drought... the chances of all six surviving was extremely thin. It would take a miracle if all pups even made it to their third week of life.

He couldn't give the milk the pups needed, but he'll be there to support Moze in any other way he could.
Giving each wiggling pup a tender nuzzles, he felt Moze rush past him and out of the chamber.

Oh-- wait. No! Pacific scoops up his wiggling millipede and bolts on after Moze. She was probably hungry. He wouldn't be surprised.
Entering back out into the baking sun, the scruffy male gazed up at the sky -- double checking for any aerial predators. None that he could see...So he skipped over to the digging Moze and gave a quiet, muffled chirp, dropping the millipede.

Moze looked up from digging, and chirped in surprise when she saw Pacific.  She had been so busy that she didn't hear him approach, and was even more surprised to see the millipede from earlier.  It only takes a moment for her to realize that his gesture was a way of offering the meal to her.  Normally, she would have been more shy and modest when accepting a gift, but she's so hungry that her attitude was understandable different than usual.  She peeps sheepishly and thankfully, and begins eating it immediately, rolling the invertebrate in the sand before beginning to consume her meal.  Out of courtesy, she leaves half of it uneaten for her friend, and returns to her hole.  In a rare stroke of luck, her effort pays off and she finds a few small beetle larvae buried deep underground.  They seem to be barely alive, but she quickly snapped them up and continued digging in another spot.  She dug for quite some time, but wasn't finding anything.  She's completely unaware that she, Pacific, and her six new arrivals are in danger.  Luckily, they haven't been spotted, but it's only a matter of time...

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

August 15th 2018, 4:46 pm
Rebe kept a distant eye on her three kids while walking, even making sure to keep tabs on Kiziah, despite her adopted daughter being older than her sons and far more independent. Unfortunately, Rebe assumed that Kiziah's distance was something that her daughter wanted, and not something that had been borne out of feelings of dismissal. In truth, Rebe missed having someone to coddle. Her daughter didn't seem to want that anymore, and she felt that her two boys would benefit from a bit of tough love now and then. Endymion was so strong already, and she didn't want to take that strength away from him. Silvertongue on the other hand could use a bit of toughening up. With a slight sigh, Rebe threw a subtle glance toward Kitanda, thinking back on what her sister had said. It was sad that Kit had no pups of her own. The rebellious female's treacherous mind had very nearly encouraged the other subordinate to try and find a mate, to maybe conceive a litter with. However, the thought had never left her. As much as Kitanda might want pups, that was a road which often lead to more heartache than anything else. Rebe had mothered so many pups, and yet only three remained. Even the ones who she'd not seen take their final breaths... She didn't believe that she'd ever see Lucky, Moze, or Julian ever again.

---

London wasn't just afraid for her children. She felt positively terrified. But on top of fear, she was also livid. The anger that she felt toward Poison at the moment was almost frightening in it's own right. The dominant female was actively placing her and Tuhi's precious children in grave danger by leading them into enemy territory with the intent to make them fight, and it... It wasn't right. Keeping up the appearance of calm strength and  assurance was difficult, and the tension within her shoulders might have given away the anxiety that London was feeling. However, she refused to simply allow her true emotions to freely show,  if only for her pups' sake. Aware that her mate could likely see through her attempted calm facade, however, London appreciated the soft nuzzle that Tuhi gave to her, and she returned the gesture with a shaky sigh. 'They'll be safe', she tried to assure him. No matter what might happen this day, London would do everything to ensure that her and Tuhi's pups made it out of this alive. Even if it meant going against Poison's wishes and dragging her pups away from a fight, if it came down to that or watching her pups die, she would do it and readily face the consequences.

---

Within the shallow depths of Moze and Pacific's bolt hole, tiny Grackle snuggled up to his siblings. Blind and blissfully unaware of what a dangerous world he'd been born into, his tiny paw rubbed clumsily at his own snout, a bit of dried milk clinging to his sensitive skin. For now, ridding himself of the minuscule irritant was the only trouble his simple mind thought that he had. Well, that and the fact that he was still hungry. Taking in a tiny lung full of air, he let out a high pitched squeak for his mother.

(( ooc: Moze's 4 surviving pups has now become 3.  Crais. xD One last post before Youssy comes on.))

Strangely enough, even though Grackle was less than an hour old, Moze was instinctively attuned to his cries and immediately upon hearing it, the new mother chirped dismissively to Pacific and quickly returned to the bolthole where her son was calling for her.  Almost instantly, seeing her pups in the chamber melted away her worries, and Moze cooed to them softly.  Once she detected which of the six was in distress, she chrred and pulled him close to her belly gently, in case he wanted to feed.  She gave her son a few licks and pressed her nose against his back, trying to be gentle, knowing how delicate pups could be.  She's actually quite lucky, giving birth to such a healthy litter in a drought.  Knowing her mother had a habit of giving birth to stillborns, she realized how fortunate she was, and couldn't help but smile warmly.  She only wished Rebe, and especially Lucky were here to see them...

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

August 19th 2018, 8:04 pm
Unknown to Mzuri, even though she's leading the Villains toward the center of their territory, not only has Moze just given birth but the Lavas are out for blood, looking to strike on their neighbors. These thoughts don't even cross Mzuri's mind - the center of a mob's territory is their heart and theoretically they should be safe from rival mobs which would only incur on the fringes of the group. 500 yards away, 450, 400....

Saffaron watches as Mzuri keeps passing up potentially good foraging spots. He knows what his sister has in mind, but can't they stop and fill their bellies a little bit along the way? He whines a little bit, under his breath.

Paris follows along right next to Mzuri. As in.... right next to Mzuri. As in, she stumbles on him under her feet a couple times. He always bashfully trots away, but his mother would never show an unkind side to her son, encouraging Paris to stay glued to her side. He doesn't pick up on Mzuri's slight irritation.

Endymion stays with the group easily, his strides long for a pup his age. He is the polar opposite of Paris. He does love Rebe, but sometimes he feels it's better to distance himself from her. With Mzuri being the dominant female and all, being the son of Rebe isn't really the best thing for his position in the group. Luckily, he's got the size and strength to back up his independence.

Diem hears Venom's calls and looks back. She tilts her head for a moment in confusion, then dashes over, despite Venom lagging behind so far from the group. Venom is her friend, and she won't let her get left behind. She notices Venom's back legs seem to be the reason for her moving so slowly, but doesn't say anything. She just barks really loudly, trying to get the group to slow down and help her.

Asphodel emerges near the burrow, but the group has already moved off. Okay. That's alright. She'll find them. But the voice in her head cuts through clear as day, Nobody was checking for you. Nobody notices you're gone. They don't care about you. Asphodel growls at the voice... or at the Villains? She shakes her head. It doesn't matter what happened or why. She needs to find the group; if she could take of herself then she'd live on her own, but she's way too young. She can just... follow their scent, right? They can't be too far off. She picks up the trail of the group and begins to head off in that direction.

When the group had taken off, Lizziekam did a count of all the pups, but she didn't do a very good job, missing Asphodel completely. Now, however, as she walks with the group to the foraging ground, she realizes that she doesn't see Diem, her niece. She pauses, alarmed, but then hears Diem's voice. She turns around and sees Diem with the Lava pup, Venom. She runs back, anxious not to leave them behind.
--
Cindy wraps her tail around Honeybee. She can tell her daughter is nervous. Truth be told, she's so nervous for her daughter herself that she could throw up. But Cindy is smart and intuitive. She has a poker face like a champ and hides her own feelings. She reassures Honeybee that her mom is right here and will not let anything happen to her.

Poison's excitement is making Jonna excited. Her fur stands on end and she begins to prance. She doesn't know what's about to happen at all, she's just excited because her mom is! She takes a moment to look over at her mother and thinks to herself, Wow, I wanna be just like Poison someday. Jonna may be a little conceited like Poison, but she doesn't realize that overall she is nothing like her mother.

Gali shoots a glare at Lewa and Tahu. She can't believe they are excited about this. It honestly seems like such an irresponsible thing to do, but what can she do? She's not even a full-grown adult yet. She inwardly shakes her head. Brothers...

Rozzelle struggles to keep up at the rear of the Lavas. She continues to put her effort into just keeping up with the group... not worrying about the coming battle.

Pacific was absolutely delighted when Moze accepted his gift. He patiently waited, absently staring up at the sky, while she ate. Again, nothing caught his attention. Strange. He looked back down when Moze passed by him; leaving behind the half eaten millipede and scurried to the shared bolt hole. He could assume that she was going to feed the newly born.

Pacific made quick work of the remaining millipede. He couldn't leave such precious food behind within this barren wasteland. It's wasteful.

Titmouse was blissfully asleep, snuggling with their siblings.

Shiver was a hesitant little guy; always watching before scurrying after the adults. His cautious approach was deadly within these harsh times. Predators prey on lonely pups. Numerous times he nearly lost sight of the Lavas, only just barely managing to catch back up. He was worn out, yet, forced himself to carry on.

Now back within the crowd of adults, he quietly looks around. Today was going to be an terrifying day. What should he do? What could he do? The bony pup gave a ragged whimper.

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

Toxic is scent-marking with his mate, putting on that aggressive behavior he acquired ever since he joined the Lavas. He'd be lying if he said he didn't secretly enjoy it. There was a rush to this, and he knew he'd never discover it had he stayed with his birth family. He was looking forward to this battle. He didn't know little Venom, his daughter he thought was dead, was taking refuge in this rival group...

Poison Dart growls puppishly at Bleach and puts on her own act of toughness, furiously scent-marking small shrubs and even scent-marking her brother, Serum, in the confusion.

Serum growls in annoyance and suddenly feels overwhelmed by the disturbing energy in the air. He's discovering his somewhat-unique ability to sense dangers and read others quite thoroughly. As if picturing in his mind a dark smoke of hostility rising into the air from the source of his family, he comes to understand their true intentions and he begins to tremble. He stays near his father, even though Toxic is one of the few looking for a fight.

Jynx walks cautiously. She didn't know how she'd be able to fight; her body was more built for speed. Perhaps she could be of a distraction and get a rival to chase her rather than physically confront her... She didn't know. She was too young for this. What was Poison thinking? What was her mother thinking when she took pups out to battle as Poison claims she did?

Firework twitched her nose introspectively. Although she surprisingly wanted to support Toxic and Poison in this battle, she had a different priority on her mind. Firework could be clever when she put forward enough effort. She knew Venom was close by—she had visited the Villains a few times over the past few days secretly and spotted the pup there. She just hadn't had the chance to get her pup back. Now she would, and she put her attention into this instead of beating up a rival. That could wait... she sneaks away and gets closer to the Villains, looking all around for the lone, white pup that wasn't like the others in this rival group...

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

August 23rd 2018, 3:17 am
(( ooc: Okay, I'm going to post one more time before I wait for Kat.  In the next post, Jazz will notice Pacific, and Tuhi will spot her and raise the alarm.  Then everything will begin, eheheh... ))

Shiver's sister, Alexandra, glanced over at her brother sadly.  She could be selfish and hostile towards the other pups at times, but that all stopped with her brother.  She was worried about him.  Shiver wasn't as brave as she was, and he was definitely one of the skinnier pups in the Lavas... she would always be there to look out for him, but she was just a pup herself... with no mother to look out for them, their chances of survival were slimmer.  She nuzzled her brother, trying to comfort him.  She would always be there.  She stood up on her hind legs, and glanced around warily.  Poison had been perfectly clear that the Lavas would need to learn to fight early, and there was nothing Alexandra wanted more than to prove herself.  However, she also wanted to protect her brother, and he wasn't in very good shape right now... she would stay by his side in case something happened.  She sighed; she would have to prove her worth next time...

Tuhi glanced over at London, trying his hardest to remain calm, although hiding his fear was something he would probably never be good at.  The russet male gave a light shudder; he hadn't experienced his attacks in a while... life had been good despite the drought, and he had almost forgotten what it had been like, but he tried to suppress it for London's sake.  In the past, she had always been the strong one, which had helped support him.  Seeing her so upset made him frown, even if he understood why... London was his rock, and simply put, it hurt his heart.  But they were parents now, and he couldn't afford to lean on her for support anymore... they needed to work together.  Besides, after everything that she had done for him, he owed it to her to give his mate the same support she had given him... Quite honestly, he didn't know what he would have done if she hadn't been there for him... He couldn't help but wonder, though, if London was trying to assure herself just as much as him.  He offered her a half-hearted smile, and nodded with a chrr.  Yes. Yes, everything will be fine.  He rested his head on her shoulder.  As... As long as we're together... He was still trembling, but it calmed down a little once he pressed his side against hers.  He had to be careful, though... Tuhi's condition did affect him physically, and could wear him out if it got bad enough.  In addition to that, because of his nervous disposition and his devotion to his family, Tuhi had been one of the first to show signs of malnutrition, and was already pretty skinny.  It would take more than that to stop him from protecting him mate and daughters, however. He didn't realize yet, but Jazz had wandered off...

Poison glanced over at Toxic, and smiled slightly.  She would never admit it, but she was happy to have him at her side.  Perhaps having a mate that wasn't quite as sadistic as herself had even changed her... she definitely wasn't the same, there was something different about her.  Even if she definitely had a black heart, Poison had some kind of affection for her mate that she would never acknowledge... Still, there were other things one her mind now, and she was much too anxious to worry about affections, so a smile was all Toxic got from her, for now.  She knew that some of the other Lavas didn't agree with her methods, but they never completely agreed with Volcanopaw, either.  She didn't care what they thought at the moment, but she was possibly willing to negotiate with them later... as cruel as she was Poison had her reasons, and as much as she hated it, she needed the support of her subordinates in order to succeed.

Bleach glared at Poison Dart, her brown eyes narrowed.  Conflicts between them were not uncommon, and often quite dramatic.  She continued scent-marking eagerly, glancing back at her sister to show that she would not be outdone.  When she saw her brother being scent-marked, as well, she growled.  That was petty.  With a snort, Bleach slumped down and stared at her rival, daring her to try something else.  Is that the best you got?

---

When Diem stopped for her, Venom almost choked.  She hadn't actually expected her to do that... limping now, the albino pup chrred happily and touched her nose to Diem's back in a grateful gesture.  When she saw Lizziekam approaching them, she called out loudly for help.  Even though she was having a hard time, Venom was actually quite happy.  Very rarely would her mother make an effort to help her, but here were two meerkats who bothered to look her way... She tried to run towards Lizziekam, but tripped in her desperation, and got a mouthful of sand in the process.  Spitting it out, she turned to the adult, a pleading look in her eyes.

Lizziekam's eyes widened as Venom tried to run, fell, and got sand all up in her mouth. The poor girl seemed to be having such a tough time. Although she was three months old and becoming a juvenile, Lizziekam picked her up gently. Holding Venom was an awkward mouthful, but she wouldn't let anyone be left behind. She glances down at Diem to make sure that she's keeping up, then dashes toward the group.

Asphodel continues at a quick pace, keeping her nose to the ground in pursuit of the Villains' scent trail. Being so young, she doesn't even think to look up at her surroundings and keep an eye out for danger. As she blindly follows the scent trail, a loud hiss stops her in her tracks and she looks up, coming face to face with a cobra. Shrieking, Asphodel immediately turns tail and runs backward. She sprints for a minute or so, then looks back to make sure the cobra isn't behind her any more... Okay, good, no sign of the snake... Then she pauses and realizes that she's lost the Villains' scent trail. She sits, not immediately sure what to do. She then lets out a frustrated growl and bats the ground with her right paw. Why can't she ever get things right?!

Melting into the comforting embrace of his mother, Grackle pressed himself close to Moze and began nursing from her, feeling completely content now that all of his 'troubles' were being taken care of. When his belly was full, the tiny pup yawned tiredly and curled up at his mother's side. Would they just stay this way forever now? Moze was warm and Grackle enjoyed being fussed over. He didn't understand that she would need to leave again, blissfully unaware that life was more than a warm bolt hole and an endless supply of food and cuddles.

It isn't too terribly difficult for Slvertongue to keep up with Endymion. His brother might be larger and stockier, but he himself had always been rather quick and agile. He admittedly has to take quicker steps to make up for his shorter strides, but it's not something which wears him out. He also didn't appear to be bothered when Endymion began to stray further from Rebe. Silvertongue wasn't ashamed of his mother or her status within the mob, but he felt far more attached to his sibling than he was to his parent. Upon hearing Diem and Venom , the pup slowed for a few paces, torn on whether or not he should pause to help, or ignore them in favor of keeping up with the rest of the group. But when Lizziekam answered the call and came to their aid, Silvertongue felt relieved that he wouldn't need to bother with it and quickly ran to catch up with Endymion.

London initially felt some comfort when Tuhi leaned against her, but that comfort turned to guilt when she felt his trembling. She was usually able to keep her chin up and be the rock that kept her family grounded in difficult situations such as these, but now... What was wrong with her? Was she just being selfish in allowing some of her inner turmoil to bleed it's way to the surface? A knot tied itself together within her chest, threatening to climb it's way up her throat and choke her, but she quickly swallowed it down. She was overreacting. Yes, that was it. She was overreacting and just need to get a grip on her emotions, because letting herself slip into such desolate thoughts did literally no one any good. Like a light being switched off, London smothered any lingering fear and anger at the forefront of her mind and shoved her deeper panic even further down. 'This should be a good learning experience for them.' London reasoned, placing as much confidence within her expression as her otherwise screaming doubts could spare. 'Our pups... It's wise of Poison to expose them to this now, so that they'll be more capable of defending themselves in the future.' London chirped. Maybe if she said it enough times, she could convince herself and Tuhi that it was true.

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

August 28th 2018, 5:59 pm
Venom yipped happily when she was picked up by Lizziekam, surprised that an adult who hardly knew her would bother to help her.  Had she known that Lizziekam was actually a relative of hers, she might have been even more surprised, considering how often her mother had ignored her.  Poison had her reasons, but poor little Venom had no way of knowing them, often leaving her feeling unwanted except in the company of her great aunt, Firework, the one meerkat that Venom had managed to grow really close to.  Firework was definitely the more maternal figure in her life, and Venom missed her terribly, but had begun to accept that she wouldn't see her again, unaware that she was actually nearby... oh well, it seemed like she might make new friends, soon.  Diem seemed really nice and Venom wanted to get to know her better.  Hopefully she wouldn't have to be carried much longer... for the first few weeks of life, Venom could not walk and practically had to drag herself around, and the month after that her mobility was still really limited.  To be able to walk at all was a miracle, but she still had a long way to go.  While not broken, Venom's hind legs would probably always be scarred and weak.  She would have the most difficulty when it came to following the group or, more importantly, escaping predators.  In the meantime, however, there was still hope... as long as Venom was willing to put in the work.  That, however, remained to be seen.  There was a point where the only one who could help Venom... was herself.

---

Gazing down at her son, Moze's gaze softened and her heart melted.  She had given birth to so many that morning, but she was looking forward to getting to know every one of them.  Grackle was especially adorable and she couldn't help but watch fondly as he curled up at her side.  She reached down to nuzzle him - but didn't.  He looked so peaceful, and she didn't want to wake him up.  She couldn't help but wonder; was this how her mother felt when she had given birth for the first time? Moze had spent time with other pups, of course, but it was nothing compared to the feeling of having your own.  She carefully separated herself from her children, and headed back above ground.  She would have loved to cuddle with them all morning, but she couldn't afford to.  Not when she had to feed both them, and herself, since there weren't any other females around to look after them.  Quite frankly, she would be lucky if she, Pacific, and her pups all lasted a week on their own.  Once back outside, she cast a smile towards her friend, thankful to have him here.  Moze was nervous by nature and likely would be in the midst of a panic attack right now if he hadn't decided to stay with her.  She began foraging by his side, hoping to find a little more food to help keep her milk flowing.

Tuhi glanced over at London, taking in her words carefully.  After a few moments, he nodded hesitantly.  He and London knew all too well that pups did not have the chance to grow up as they normally would, especially Tuhi, who had lived in the Infernos and Linklus, two benevolent mobs who ran themselves very differently.  It's true... he chirped.  They... they need to learn eventually.  Better that they do now, rather than in the future in a battle against the Unspeakables... and Voldemort... Indeed, they both knew that Voldemort would stop at nothing, and the meerkats under him weren't any better... He was almost hesitant to speak the name... but it was true.  The Lavas and Unspeakables were bitter rivals, and there were consequences for clashing with Voldemort and his followers.  Poison was fearsome, and she likely knew what it would take to stand a chance... at least he hoped so.  Tuhi didn't know much about such things, but his past dealings with Kaina taught him that he could not cower in the shadows forever, so he did his best to trust Poison's judgment.  He didn't always agree with it, especially when it brought his family into the crossfire, but the two of them knew that life within the Lavas could be just as dangerous.  And Tuhi knew what it was like to be a pup caught in the midst of battle before they were ready... he never wanted his children to experience that.  No, he knew they had to be prepared, and he would do his best to ensure that they were.  Pressing his muzzle against London's cheek, Tuhi chrred softly in an attempt to comfort her.  He was really trying hard; he knew she was nervous, and he didn't want to make it worse with his own anxiety.  We... we have each other... and we'll be there for them...  It'll all work out, you'll see... I... I have to believe that... As long as we work together... we'll find a way.  Was he trying to convince himself as well as her? Yes, in a way.  But he also believed, with all his heart, that as long as he had London, anything was possible.  From the moment they had begun to grow closer, things immediately started to get better, despite everything bad that had happened since then.  He'd had her, and now they had three beautiful daughters.  That was all he needed in life, and he knew that together, they could succeed.

Suddenly, an angry call rang out... but it wasn't from a sentry.  No, it was the voice of a pup, and Tuhi recognized it immediately.  He looked around, and saw Serenity and Eclipse... but he couldn't see Jazz.  He squeaked in alarm.  London, London... we're missing one... A pit formed in his throat... Of... of all the times to wander off... Why now?  Pulling himself away from London, he glanced around wildly.  He took a deep breath.  Okay, okay... focus... thinking quickly, he scrambled up a tree to get a closer look... Only to see his young daughter approaching two strange meerkats. Jazz's fur was bristled, and her tail was raised as she charged at them. Although strangers did not always pose a threat, they were in unfamiliar territory and Tuhi was on edge. When Moze looked up from digging and spotted her, that was the last straw.  He forced his way down the tree and scurried over to where he had last seen her. As Moze curiously sniffed Jazz, Tuhi pulled her back and did his best to restrain her by holding the pup close with his forepaws. Moze tilted her head and uttered a confused chirp, but Tuhi just growled slightly. Jazz struggled, but her father kept his grip firm. He stared fearfully at both Moze and Pacific... Now that he was closer, he recognized them as some of the Villains who had raided the Lavas burrow many months ago. He glanced around warily; where were the other Villains?

At this point, Poison had noticed the commotion, and as Tuhi dashed past her, she followed him to investigate. The minute she spotted the strangers, she stood up on her hind legs and bobbed her head. Noticing that the wind was blowing towards her, she sniffed the air. Although it was faint, the Villains scent was still there. She could also smell the distinct scent of newborn pups; fresh enough that they were most likely nearby.  And, more importantly, like Tuhi she recognized the scents as belonging to meerkats who had attacked her burrow and attempted to kill her pups. The time for revenge had come.  Narrowing her eyes to crimson slits, Poison barked and emitted aggressive lead calls; they were going to attack. She would wait for her Lavas to gather first... A familiar face, Warpath, and her brother Wolfgang appeared at her side.  Poison blinked; she would deal with them later... In truth they had been looking for the Lavas for a while and wanted to support them...

Although he didn't turn his head, Tuhi had heard Poison and shrunk slightly. He and Jazz were in the middle of a battlefield and he wasn't entirely sure what to do... Thinking quickly, he grabbed his protesting daughter and, with some difficulty, carried her back behind enemy lines. As he took his place beside Poison, Tuhi called out to London, wanting to make sure that his family was beside him the entire time.

Moze had been surprised to see a pup appear out of nowhere, and even when she had detected the scent of Lava on Jazz's fur, was more curious than concerned.  After all, they were quite a ways from the Lavas border.  What was this pup doing here? Then, a male suddenly darted out of the bush, and pulled the pup away from her.  The two of them looked alike; was this the pup's father? Although she opened her mouth, she never got a chance to ask, because that was when her cousin, Poison, appeared.  The second the albino female entered her field of sight, Moze froze.  The... the Lavas were here? No, no, no, no... Poison appeared to be gathering the forces for a fight, and Moze was close enough to hear her calls.  They were going to attack, and even with their numbers reduced, there was no way that she and Pacific could fend them off themselves... they could run, but that would leave her pups vulnerable.  She just gave birth to them, she wasn't going to abandon them... but it was too late to move all six of them... thinking quickly, Moze turned to Pacific and chirped.  Maybe... maybe the Villains are nearby.  It was a bit of a jump, but she was willing to take a leap of faith.  Run, Pacific... get help... it's the only way.  I'll hold them off until then... Truth be told, she wasn't sure if it would work.  But she would rather die than lose her pups... even if she wasn't necessarily the best fighter.

Toxic's ear prick forward. He tensed when hearing his mate's aggressive snarl, but realized her intentions; she could smell newborns. Toxic would've never done this a lifetime ago—once upon a time he wouldn't fathom taking the life of a newborn. But these were the rivals who took his own pup's lives. He could now understand why a dominant or parent in general would want to avenge their fallen offspring. He still felt the ire of losing a number of his children burn in his conscience like hot embers. He flexed his natural weapons and held his tail high; he was ready to attack. Be it that he no longer had a problem with chewing an infant to ribbons, he was still cautious with this whole plan. He glanced back, making sure his pups were close by. He would not lose anymore.

Serum slinks back when hearing Poison's aggression. He didn't like this, but didn't have a choice. He glues himself to his father.

Poison Dart raises her tail and growls puppishly after her mother, setting an example for all the other pups.

Hope frowns. There'd be no way out of this, would there? She's never really fought before, but she had no problem defending herself. Causing an attack, however, was entirely different...

Garnet was anxious... Surely, Poison wouldn't..? But she could tell Poison had the intentions of attacking the Villain's newborn pups... She gulped, not sure if she could do this.. She had been through Hell and back throughout her life, but it never once solidified her as a killer, she would never want to harm a pup, rival 'kats or not... She sat down and lowered herself a bit, shaking a little.

Serenity, Fumble and Pohatu were all near the adults, watching curiously.. What was going to happen, they wondered? Out of the three, Fumble was the innocent one, not understanding the dire situation they were about to be thrown into. Serenity, however, felt a knit form inside her stomach. She couldn't put her paw on it, but she felt something bad was going to happen, making her linger near Tuhi, London and her sisters, looking a bit nervous.

Pohatu felt a bit indifferent, not really sure how to take things. But waited in silence, watching.

Kiziah was watching her adoptive brothers in silence. She sighed and looked ahead. She was hardly a pup anymore... Surely, she had to stop being clingy, right? Rebe had her own pups... She wasn't needed anymore, right? Right... Rebe had her sons to focus on... Yet she felt lonely. She was too shy to even try to interact with anyone else outside Rebe and those who had helped her in the past. She just wasn't sure what she wanted.. Maybe that cheetah should of taken her too, not just her mom... She shook her head and looked ahead again.

Rusami and Eleeva were bickering, as the per usual.. Rusami could hardly stand the darker pup, and thanks to her superior complex, she felt she could easily dominate Eleeva, but the dark pup, while usually cheerful and carefree, also had a bit of a rebellious streak. She simply would never allow Rusami to have her way, and never hesitated to stand up for herself. Rusami couldn't use her excuse of being a dominant's pup forever, even that wore thin. What was Rusami gonna do? Tell her mom on her? Then what? The two continued to bicker still.

(( ooc: lo and behold, I forgot something in my last post.  So, one more thing before I wait for Youssy, Kat, and Shadow.  ))

Meanwhile, a figure appeared in the distance... his rusty red fur and scars gave him away as he grew closer to the Villains.  It was Turahn, and there was a worn look in his leaf-green eyes.  He had left a few weeks ago to look for his missing sisters.  After all, they were all he had, and he missed them desperately... but now they were gone, their lives probably claimed by the desert.  After losing them, Turahn returned to the only home he had left, the Villains.  He didn't really have any friends or family there, but he hoped he would... someday.  And so he had set out to find them, and he'd finally been successful.  As he saw Mzuri leading the depleted group out, there was a slight glimmer of happiness in his eyes, and he chirped to them with a forced smile.  Gladly, he began to follow them to the foraging grounds... he looked around, not seeing many ex-Kitties...

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

September 6th 2018, 12:34 pm
Having such of a supportive sister like Alexandra greatly encouraged him to persevere. It was definitely frustrating, though, since Alexandra wanted to prove herself worthy. He was holding her back; that made him boil with shame and modesty. Was a meek pup like himself even worth the time and effort? He was skinnier, and certainly weaker as a result. It was amazing how he wasn't snatched up by a predator by now or simply left. What a pathetic little whelp he was.

It's okay. I-

He felt the fur along his nape bristle at some abrupt aggressive lead calls from Poison. He was not ready to fight tooth and nail. He couldn't-- he wouldn't. He should run and hide within a bolt hole like a coward. Rather, that's what his brain was screaming at him to do. But he didn't. Passing a brief, horrified stare at Alexandra, the shaking tyke waddled behind the female dominant.

-------

By now there was a soft plume of sand where Pacific began to furiously dig. He, frustratingly, was coming up empty pawed. That millipede was a rare find during times like this. But Moze and her newborns needed the rich substances. This was an unfortunate time to have a huge litter. They could pull through. They had to. He kept telling himself many wishful things, yet, the reality for those pups were grim. The rain wasn't coming anytime soon.

He was distracted by his frantic digging when a stranger -- a pup -- came out of nowhere. This had to been a bizarre accident of sorts. No way could a single pup survive out here. He attentively sniffed at the pup. A ... Lava pup? How? Why? Were they abandoned? Lost?

A second figure bolted out from some nearby cover, practically dragging the little one away. A family? No-- he noticed the unusual ghostly figure of Poison, the Dominant of the Lavas, staring right at them. An iron ball fell into his stomach; a heavy feeling of dread. What luck. The drought probably forced the Lavas into invading the Villains' territory for food.

Moze-- the pups -- what should he do?! There was absolutely no way the two of them could fend off a mob, no matter how big it was. Frantically, he whipped around to Moze. What chances were there that the Villains would be foraging nearby? They had to find them immediately. Yet, the mob could be on the other end of the territory for all they knew! It was a blind shot. Someone had to go find them.

I... Ahh- but! You...

How could he leave Moze to face the wrath of the Lavas all alone? He didn't have enough time to debate what to do. They were a lucky pair for finding a great millipede. Maybe they could keep that luck going in a different way.

He briskly nuzzled Moze's head.

Stay safe--

With a tiny panicked smile, Pacific finally spun around and raced off. This was a grave plight; recklessly running in the open without proper investigation of the skies and land. He could not stop and hide every five seconds at possibilities of running into a predator. This was a risk he had to take for the survival of Moze and her children.

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

September 7th 2018, 12:40 am
(( ooc: Sorry for posting so soon, but with the Villains so close nearby, I wanted to move things along just so that I know we can get everything done... If this seems rushed that's because this plot has been in the works for at least 3 years and I feel like it's dragged on too long... Especially since it was poorly planned...

So, here's how it's going to work.  Two of the pups are going to be taken above ground and killed.  Moze will then return to her other pups further in the bolthole and attempt to hide them under her tummy.  Poison will fight her until the Villains arrive, at which point two more pups will be wrestled out from under her: the final unnamed pup and Grackle.  Attempts are made to kill both, but they will be rescued by Villains (Kitanda will rescue Grackle.) Both are injured, the unnamed pup more severely.  At this point Moze is severely injured, but Poison hears the commotion and is able to escape to the surface to fight.  After that I'm not sure; but I'm assuming that another Villain will head below to retrieve one of the remaining pups, and Moze will carry the other... at that point perhaps the Villains retreat back to the burrow to get the newborns out of the sun, it may be slow going because of Moze's injuries.  Besides that I'm not sure, we'll see how it plays out.  But the final pup will pass away overnight, which will be discovered on the next day.

I do need to know who's willing to kill pups though.  Youssy has offered Cindy, and perhaps Toxic as well? I could have Warpath kill the third and attempt to kill one of the remaining two.  If we can just figure out who's doing what we can get this over with... ))

Moze winced slightly when Pacific nuzzled the top of her head.  She still had quite the crush on him, but if Lizziekam still liked him, she didn't have the strength to act on it... if nothing else, though, he was a friend... a very good friend who had stood by her through a very rough period in her life.  She'd had several, but nothing like this, and yet he had been there for a meerkat he hardly knew. She had no doubt that Pacific would gladly fight beside her... but what hope would they have, then? No, they had to take a chance, even if it was a small one.  And if they weren't... well, it was unlikely that she would ever live see her family again, in her pessimistic mind, and her pups would certainly be dead... what would she have left to live for? When he pulled away and their eyes met, however... she wasn't so sure.  Her glimmering, dilated eyes grew hot and started to water as he told her to stay safe... Moze whimpered slightly, and started to feel even more emotional than usual.  She had to look away to fight back the tears, and only when he ran off did she allow herself to cry.  She watched him go; a good friend, indeed.  Would she ever see him again? Would she ever be able to repay the kindness he had shown? He had told her to stay safe, but... they both knew it wasn't possible... not here... not now.  But she couldn't think about that.  She had second thoughts, but she couldn't afford to dwell on them.  She needed to follow though; her pups needed her, and thankfully her maternal instincts were kicking in to give her confidence a little boost.  Moze turned around to glare at the Lavas for a brief second, before she turned around and retreated into the burrow.  Once she reached her pups, Moze immediately got to work moving her tiny children.  Starting with Grackle, she picked him up gingerly and made her way to the depths of the bolthole, where she set him down softly.  After that, she made her way back through the tunnels to her other pups, hoping to repeat the process with the other five pups.

Poison narrowed her eyes as she watched one of the adults flee, and the other retreat towards what looked like a bolthole... no doubt, where the pups were.  Poison was on the warpath and it wasn't just about revenge... this was about making a statement.  About securing the future of the group and proving to their neighbors that although they have taken time to regain their footing under a new leader, the Lavas were back and they were not intent on remaining in the shadows.  Although, having a spark of hate in her crimson eyes didn't hurt her determination.  Her snow-white fur perked up aggressively, Poison emitted several loud lead calls and dashed in the direction of the bolthole.  Since there were no meerkats in sight, she didn't waste energy wardancing, but her tail was high in the air.

Warpath followed after Poison almost immediately.  She was still very loyal to Poison, although her failure at the burrow raid several months ago had cost her dearly; having been distracted by a well-meaning rover, she had been at the receiving end of Poison's rage, who had evicted her right after her pups had been born.  If she could make a good impression today, however, perhaps the matriarch would give her another chance.  Wolfgang followed at his sister's side; she was still mad at him, and he was seeking him own variety of redemption from her.  He wasn't sure what she saw in Poison, but he cared about her too much to argue with her... whatever it took to gain her trust, something the two of them had never really shared...

Although he certainly wasn't a sadistic individual, Tahu's love of fighting was no secret.  He was still young and all he understood was that these were enemies and he wanted to do his part as a member of the Lavas.  He had always liked the idea of proving himself in battle, and perhaps this would be his chance.  Lewa was more childish and didn't quite understand what was going on, but he was adventurous and there was enough apprehension in the air to make him excited.  Tahu smiled at Gali and charged forward, Lewa not far behind him.

Alexandra nudged her brother gently.  She was not known for being soft, but Shiver was an exception.  Some might have called it a weakness, but she loved her brother and could never bring herself to be harsh with him.  She chirped softly, Are you ready? Don't worry, I'll be with you the whole time.  Nothing bad will happen while I'm here.  With that, she joined the others, making sure that Shiver was following before doing so.

Honeybee, however, was much more hesitant than some of the other pups.  After all, she was still very tiny, and you could hardly tell that she was the same age as the others... in fact, she looked much younger.  With a high pitched chirp, she looked up at Cindy as she huddled closer to her mother's leg.  She wouldn't move until Cindy did...

Bleach kept a close eye on her sister, Poison Dart.  Usually, Bleach was known to be quite aloof and independent... even mature for her age, albeit a little rough with the other pups.  However, that all ended where her rivalry with her sister was concerned.  She had every intention to outdo her.  She copied her mother's every move, and air of sass about her as she did so.

Strangely enough, Jazz paused to look at Poison Dart... unlike Bleach, the white female intrigued her... Poison Dart was sooo cool and her mom let her do dangerous things, unlike Jazz's parents... Jazz wanted to be just like her. She bobbed her head at the older pup, her eyes round with curiosity.

To his own surprise, Tuhi almost felt... relieved.  It soon became evident what Poison was planning to do, and although the idea of killing or even stealing another group's pups sickened him, he realized that this was probably the ideal situation for his family.  There was only one meerkat left, and she hadn't disappeared into a breeding burrow... it was just a bolthole.  It was highly unlikely that a group like the Villains would be raising their pups here.  Which meant that this was either a splinter group or an evicted female that had unfortunately given birth here.  Although it was bad news for her and her litter, Tuhi saw it as a blessing.  There would probably be no messy battle; as long as his daughters helped to widen the entrance and kept their heads down, everything should be fine... he knew it was wrong to feel this way, but he felt relaxed, and glanced over at London, wondering if she felt the same way.  He, of course, didn't realize that the Villains were in fact nearby or that Pacific had left in hopes of finding them.  Smiling in an attempt to reassure his mate, Tuhi nudged Jazz, Serenity, and Eclipse before following after Poison, although obviously his body language wasn't nearly as passionate as hers.

It only took Poison a few strides to reach the bolthole.  She immediately uttered a series of chirps, instructing the group to start digging to widen the entrance.  As for her? She was going below ground.  There was only one exit, and she only had two goals... to kill the pups, and possibly the mother too... at the very least, Poison would not leave Moze unscathed.  She wanted her experience to be slow and painful.  If she died, Poison would consider her revenge complete. If not, well... she was sure that this female would not forget her face... and it would not be the last time she'd see it...

Warpath followed Poison... as they traveled through the tunnel, Poison glanced back at her and chirped.  I want you to take any pups we find to the surface... they will be killed there.  Warpath was emotionless, and nodded.

Tuhi decided to take sentry duty, keeping a close eye on his girls...

After a couple minutes, Chickadee and Titmouse had joined their brother with assistance from their mother, and she returned for a fourth... Moze grabbed the pup, only to come face to face with the gleaming red eyes of Poison, and froze.  They were burning with rage and the soft smile she was known for was absent... something about it filled Moze with terror and at first, she wasn't sure what to do.

(ooc: I can have Toxic kill a pup))

Toxic was beside Poison the entire time. As soon as she bolted he pushed himself into a sprint. His adrenaline was high and he had a morbid yet exciting taste in his mouth.

Serum squealed when seeing his parents suddenly take off. Adamant on not being too far behind, he kicked up his small legs as best he could, attempting to catch up, having no idea what their sordid plans were.

Poison Dart narrows her grey eyes at Bleach. She was a showoff! Spitting with jealousy, Poison Dart started her own charge, hissing similar to the long, scale-y creatures she's encountered in the past, creatures that could kill her in one, venomous bite, according to the adults. Vipers, cobras, snakes; these fascinations still bloomed in her mind. Killing with one bite was a dark dream that any killer had. Putting the obsession of snakes away temporarily, she refocused on shining bright for her parents. She was a killer warrior just like them!

Meanwhile, Firework was close to finding the rest of the Villains. Confident that Venom was also close by, she starts out with weak, faint calls, hoping the pup would hear and return the noise.

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

Knowing that Poison would want her at the front lines as one of her loyal members, Cindy's mind races as she looks around for a moment and tries to figure out what to do with Honeybee. She doesn't know what's about to happen, but she does know that she doesn't want her daughter to see anything that she or Poison does. Her eyes land on Tuhi, keeping on sentry duty and watching over London and his pups. Although they don't really have that much of a relationship, she trusts him because she's seen how he acts toward the ones he loves. She quickly leads Honeybee over to Tuhi and chirps at him, Please watch Honeybee, okay? Make sure nothing happens to her? She hopes that he sees the passion in her eyes. She's loyal to Poison, but she needs to make sure her daughter is going to be alright... and not scarred for life. She turns to Honeybee, Sweetie, stay here with Tuhi. I have to go into the burrow with Poison. I'll be right back. Everything will be alright, okay? Just stay here. She quickly nuzzles her daughter and then runs over to the bolt hole, diving in headfirst.

Gali jumps around, full of excited and nervous energy. She knows that Tahu is eager to fight and Lewa is just excited for the adventure, but she just has a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. She doesn't think this is a good idea, but she can't do anything about it. She lets her two brothers run ahead, not because she's scared but because she's not sure what's about to happen. She shoots a comforting glance over at Pohatu.

Not to be outdone by her stupid siblings, Jonna shrieks loudly and takes off after Poison too, imitating her mom with her tail held high. She's gonna show her mom that she's just like her! Even though she doesn't like her siblings (and they have their own share of problems with each other), the sight of all four of them charging after Poison imitating her vicious ways is simultaneously comical yet chilling.

Rozzelle stays near the back. She's feeling tired and winded after the long journey here. She just sits down and watches, too weak to really be of any help.

Not knowing that Pacific is on his way to warn the Villains of imminent danger in their territory, Mzuri finally reaches her intended foraging ground and announces this by coming to a halt. She surveys the land, and spots a lone meerkat. Already on edge, her hackles immediately raise and she raises her tail, but after looking at him for a moment longer, she realizes she knows this individual. It's Turahn, the ex-Kitty who briefly lived in the Villains before their giant mob suffered from a group split. She doesn't know him well, but recalls he was a fine member.

Saffaron couldn't care less and begins digging in. He just wants some food.

As they reach the foraging grounds, Lizziekam puts Venom down next to Diem. She notices Turahn, but being rather shy, just begins to start foraging instead. She's quickly rewarded with a beetle, which she shares with Venom. The poor girl needs it.

Paris stands next to Mzuri and looks up at his mother. He will wait until she starts foraging before he does anything.

Endymion has a plan. It starts out with going to sit in the shade underneath a bush and watching the other juveniles start to fan out and forage/beg. They're all in a transitional stage where they should be foraging more and more and not receiving much food from the adults, but that doesn't stop a bunch of them. Still, he thinks he's figured out an easier way to get food - for him, at least. He just needs to wait until one of the others gets a morsel...

Completely lost, Asphodel goes to sit underneath a camelthorn tree. It's a big desert, and she's just a little pup, and here she is... all alone. She lost her family before she even knew who they were. And now, even though she doesn't have any family, she's lost her mob. There's no way she can make it on her own. She doesn't know where the Villains are... can't see them, hear them, and now she's lost their scent trail too. She has no idea how to even begin going about to find them... Overwhelmed by the situation, she curls up into a ball.

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

September 11th 2018, 5:45 am
Three words had been enough to plummet any confidence that London had managed to gather. Hearing Tuhi's alarmed 'We're missing one' had felt like a strike to the gut and those few moments before Jazz was found had felt like an eon. Thankfully, their daughter was found quite quickly by Tuhi, but it had brought them face to face with a couple of Villains. Were there others near by? It didn't appear so. Just Moze and Pacific and... newborn pups. The ugly reality of what was about to unfold hit London like a ton of bricks and she chirped softly for Tuhi to please help her to lead their own children a reasonable distance away from the scene if any any infants were brought above ground. She knew that the Lavas were about to murder the unfortunate Villain newborns, and while she felt perhaps shamefully relieved that her and Tuhi's little family would not be placed in any danger today by participating in an actual battle, she also did not want their daughters to witness such cruelty at so young of age. Being exposed to a territory battle was one thing. Witnessing newborns being slaughtered. Well, that was another. For now, however, London tried to show her young how to dig at the bolthole entrance while Tuhi went on sentry. She had no plans to go below. She would do her part by helping to widen the burrow entrance, but that was it. She'd never kill a pup.

Grackle had been sleeping, still curled up right where Moze had left him, snuggled close to his siblings for comfort and for warmth. It was suddenly being picked up which woke him, despite Moze having been gentle in doing so, and he let out a soft squeak of protest. Why was his mother moving him? He'd been so cozy and warm! The tiny pup didn't struggle, though. He simply allowed himself to be transported to another part of the bolthole and deposited on a rather soft patch of sand. Well, this wasn't too bad. Nice and soft. Where were his siblings, though? He felt cold without them. Grackle tried to crawl rather clumsily for a moment or two, barely making it a few inches across the chamber before turning blindly and feeling in the opposite direction, attempting to find them. When Chickadee and eventually Titmouse finally joined his side, Grackle nuzzled himself between them and let out a contented sigh. Much better.

---

For the first time that day, Silvertongue began to distance himself from Endymion. With food being so scarce, he didn't exactly trust that his brother wouldn't attempt to steal from him if the seemingly impossible happened and he somehow managed to find something buried beneath the sand. Shuffling around under the relative shade of a dry and brittle fallen branch, Silvertongue gave a soft huff of frustration when the only thing that his efforts accomplished was a nose full of dust. Glancing over at Rebe, he saw that his mother had found a small and skinny skink and was in the process of dispatching it. He perked up and trotted over to her with a gentle chirp. 'Mother, I'm sorry to ask, but could Endy and I share that? We're both so very hungry...' He implored, blinking up at her with an expression of pure innocence. Rebe had given most of her food to her kids each day in order to ensure that they would not starve, and had actually been planning on keeping this one meal for herself. However, upon hearing Silvertongue's request to share the small meal with his brother, she felt rather touched by her son's desire to look after Endymion, and she handed over the deceased skink to him. Rebe gave the youngster a quick nuzzle and then went back to digging. Silvertongue smiled sweetly and moved in the direction of Endymion as if he were about to bring the meal over to him to share, but once Rebe's back was turned he silently scurried off in the opposite direction so that he could retreat behind the dry branch to eat the entire skink by himself.

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

September 12th 2018, 12:07 am
(( ooc: AGH THIS IS LONG I'M SO SORRY LOL ))

Growing up in the Lavas, Tuhi had learned rather quickly which meerkats to stay away from, and Cindy was, in his opinion, one of those meerkats.  She was loyal to Volcanopaw, and later, that loyalty passed down to Poison.  She had been aggressive in the past and he generally found it wise to avoid her, but they generally never crossed paths anyway.  That was, until now.  He was quite surprised when Cindy approached him, placing her tiny daughter Honeybee at his feet.  He looked into her eyes curiously, and nodded when she was finished explaining.  Of... of course, Cindy.  She'll be safe with me.  With a slight smile, he waited for Cindy to leave before leaning down to give her a comforting nuzzle.  Don't worry, Honeybee... your mom will be back.  Just stay close and everything will be fine.  Honeybee nodded in reaction to Tuhi's words, but halfheartedly.  She watched her mother go sadly, not wanting to be separated from her, but she was also a very obedient pup and gave a small sigh.  Maybe it was for the best.  The other pups were scary and sometimes picked on her, but maybe next to Tuhi they wouldn't bother her as much.

Tuhi sighed, and turned around to see London approaching him, their daughters not far away.  He understood at once; even at 3 months old, their daughters were still too young to witness the horror of pups being killed before their eyes.  Tuhi himself had only been 4 weeks when he saw his sister Candle killed by Makuta, the patriarch of the Shadow Deaths.  It was a memory that haunted him even to this day, and he certainly didn't wish that upon his own children.  When the time came; and he knew it would, as Poison always got what she wanted, one way or another; he would gladly help his mate shield them from it.  For now, however, Tuhi continued to watch the area, his gaze averting to London, Serenity, Eclipse, and Jazz occasionally.

Seeing the look of fear, Poison almost smiled.  Almost.  Despite her foul mood, she craved the fear, and jumped forward in an attempt to startle her victim.  It worked like a charm, and Moze jumped back with a muffled yip, the fourth pup still in her mouth.  This time, Poison smiled for real.  At that point, Moze panicked and turned around to return to the other half of her litter, leaving the two remaining bundles vulnerable.  Poison scoffed, and reached down to grab one, before passing it to Warpath behind her.  You know what to do.

Eager to prove her worth, Warpath took the pup without a word, and turned around.  When she came across Cindy in the tunnels, she dropped the pup and chirped.  Take care of this one.  With no other instructions, she returned to Poison for the second pup, which she took to the surface, and handed it to Toxic.  Afterwards, she returned to the bolthole, where she awaited further command from Poison.

Poison didn't even look over her shoulder as Warpath returned behind her.  She was focused on the task ahead, her crimson gaze fixated in front of her.  Somewhere in this bolthole, Moze had taken at least one other pup.  There were no other exits... nowhere for Moze to run.  She didn't have to ask herself Moze's intentions, Poison was a mother too, and she knew how overpowering maternal instincts could be.  Sometimes, even strong enough to overpower logic.  No doubt that this new mother would be taking a last stand... brave, but foolish.  Two pups had already fallen prey to the Lavas, and they wouldn't be the last.  She wouldn't stop until each and every one of them was dead.  And the mother would not be escaping with anything less than severe injuries... Her eyes narrowed slightly, she took the first step of many as she proceeded through the dark tunnel, each one bringing her closer to Moze... Warpath was at her heels, but she didn't pay attention.  Once Poison had set her mind to something, it was almost impossible to change it, and her determination kept her from concentrating on anything except the task at hand.

Moze's breathing grew heavy and panicked.  She was trying not to, fearing that her newborns might pick up on her fear... they were probably only an hour or two old, and she didn't want to scare them already... what kind of mother would she be if she did? But it was inevitable... unless there was a miracle, there was nothing stopping Poison from finding her; then fear would be the least of their worries.  As she heard footsteps nearby, her adrenaline kicked in, and Moze reminded herself why she was doing this... she's sure that her mother would have done the same for her.  Rebe had always been so fierce and brave in her eyes... she might not be capable of such bravery, but she would try.  And she most certainly wasn't going to abandon her pups just to save her own life... no... if they were going to try, she wasn't going to make it easier for them... and in the very least, she would go down as the female who had risked her life for her pups.  Her whole life, Moze had cowered in the shadows, staying safe and practically afraid of her own shadow.  If she could be brave, even for a moment, nothing else mattered.

They were at the end of the bolthole, and Moze had backed her children up against the rear wall.  When Poison turned the corner, her crimson orbs burning with rage, Moze gulped and stood up, her back arched and her fur spiked out to make herself look bigger.  She growled as loudly as she could muster, and for the longest time, Poison just stared at her... then suddenly... she just laughed.  Moze tilted her head, not understanding, and Poison barked.  Who do you think you're fooling? You may think yourself brave... but your legs are trembling.  And a truly brave meerkat does not try to make themselves look bigger.  They don't feel the need to.

Moze shook her head.  You're wrong.  If I was a coward, I would run.  I... I'll fight you!

Poison sneered.  No, no... running would have been the smart thing.  You will unfortunately be paying for that mistake now... She leaned in closer.  But... that is not the only mistake you have ever made... is it?  Before Moze could inquire her meaning, Poison raised her red paw.  You thought I wouldn't recognize your scent? It was on my daughter, the day you nearly killed her.  You ruined her life, cost the Lavas a soldier, and made a fool out of me.  For that... you must be punished.  And the consequences will be... severe...

Realization crossed over Moze's face.  It all came back to her... the burrow raid... the pup she had tried to kill, but had been unsuccessful... She took a step back.  I... I'm sorr-

At that point, Poison slashed the side of Moze's face, cutting her sentence off.  Don't even try.  Do you get it? There is no way you're getting out of this. The only way you're escaping is by living with the consequences... Her eyes narrowed to crimson slits.  ...by watching your pups die.

Taking another step back, Moze squeaked in protest. No... no, please! I just got them, I can't lose them already! There was no sympathy in Poison's eyes... only hate, bloodlust, and an iron will.  Her reply was simple.

Your petty words are worth nothing.

And with that, Poison lunged forward, latching her teeth onto her side.  She shook her head violently, and let go, leaving a bleeding wound where he teeth had been.  Moze tried to fight back, but it became painfully obvious that Poison was older, stronger, and had much more confidence and experience than she did.  In a last resort, Moze slipped her four remaining pups underneath her tummy, and did her best to shield them from the assault.  She was taking damage fast and probably wouldn't last long... if that wasn't enough, she was too thin to cover all her pups, and two of them in particular were vulnerable... From behind Poison, Warpath waited for an opportunity... the chamber was just wide enough to possibly nab one...

---

Turahn caught Lizziekam looking at him, even if it was brief.  He kept looking for his sisters... but they weren't there... he was alone, again.  With a heartbroken whimper, he glanced around at the group... there wasn't really anything for him in the Villains, but he had no other family to go to... everyone was gone.  Even if he were to go roving, like most homeless males did, during this drought it would be wise to have a mob to fall back on... As it was, Turahn was dangerously skinny and covered in ticks.  He couldn't live on his own any longer.  So he would stay in the Villains, and while he was here, it wouldn't hurt to socialize a bit.  Having caught her eye earlier, Turahn started to forage within close proximity to Lizziekam.  He offered her a weak smile and began digging.

Venom, at first, was confused by Lizziekam's gesture... very rarely had she been given any food when she was living in the Lavas.  But, of course, hunger overcame caution and she chrred a short thank you before taking the beetle gratefully.  The food was quickly gone, however, and she sniffed the dry sand hopefully, managing to nip up a couple tiny pieces she had dropped.  It was then that she heard a familiar voice... one that filled her heart with joy.  She knew that voice... that... that had to be her great aunt, Firework! The albino pup gazed around desperately, looking for a sign of the Lavas female.  Was she here?!  She started to wander towards the source of the voice, calling out loudly.

In a rare stroke of luck, Piper was the next pup to find food.  A rather large, if not skinny, centipede was her prize.  She didn't realize yet that Endymion was on the hunt for a victim...

Kitanda, on the other hand, had chosen to take sentry duty.  She took her responsibility as a productive member of the Villains very seriously.  She's faced in the direction of the Linklus, with a slight glare.  She still doesn't like them... she's never liked them.  To be honest, she was never really fond of Stripe or Remy for that reason, and time hasn't changed a thing.  However, knowing they're nowhere near the border, Kitanda relaxed and turned her head.  She had no idea that their other neighbors, the Lavas, were in fact nearby...

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

September 12th 2018, 8:46 am
When handed a newborn, Toxic felt a flash of hesitation. Despite his new excitement for such an egregious deed, there was still a part of him that viewed this as wrong. Toxic grew up in a group that never harmed pups. They barely even battled. He backed away for a moment, still holding this Villains pup. Preternaturally, his decision was made rather fast. This group costed him his children already. He remembered how mangled Venom was after the attack. He knew they would've finished off his entire litter had the Lavas not returned just in time.
An eye for an eye, no?
The desert was for his children to thrive in, not the enemy's. This pup would grow up and still be that enemy.
He breathed in, then snapped his jaws aggressively, easily shattering the bones of this newborn. They'd never survive such a wound. He quickly dropped the soon-to-be corpse, blood now dripping from his white mouth. He was now painted like a true killer. In a way he felt like this was the final act that branded him a Lavas.
But he felt no shame.

Serum finally catches up, heading to his father's feet, but then bounces back in a scared squeak when something falls to the sand in front of him. At first he was confused, he couldn't recognize what this heap was with all the red drizzled over it. Then he begins to register when seeing the familiar shape of this creature; it was another pup like he, only much smaller—a baby.
And it was dead. Had been killed, by Serum's own father. It was blood Serum was staring at, and his whole body begins trembling uncontrollably.

Poison Dart arrives to the scene, growling in frustration for having missed this fun event. She spots the dying pup her father left and instantly grows fascinated. Adamant on shedding blood before her sister, Bleach, she jumps on the destroyed pup and slashes her tiny claws all over it.

Jynx was fast in showing up. She couldn't do much, but it wasn't a good idea to look useless in front of Poison, so she had kept following. She nearly chokes on her own air when seeing the first dead pup, reminding her of when Firework had shoved a bleeding pup in her care long ago. Like a form of PTSD, the hybrid backs away, losing her nerve and emitting soundless cries.

Firework catches Venom's calls, and sneaks closer to the group. She spies the crippled white bundle, but can't retrieve without being seen by the Villains.

January 6, Year 6 - Villains - Page 2 Empty Re: January 6, Year 6 - Villains

November 13th 2019, 6:24 pm
(( ooc: I'm kicking myself for taking so long to do this... I'm sorry, everyone... I'll try and get this started as quickly as possible.  There have also been a couple change of plans, concerning the pups.  I'm going to hold off on posting in the Lavas until the Villains arrive, because Warpath will be carrying Grackle, and Wolfgang will be carrying my pup, Cardinal.  Kitanda will be rescuing Grackle (who will be injured in the attack.)  Cardinal will also be injured, but someone interferes before he has the chance to kill her (Moze is worried that Cardinal won't survive the night, but she does.)  Shadoww has given me permission to play Pacific for this post, just so that's clear.  This way I can move the plot along quicker... after the Villains get there, I think I'm going to skip to Grackle and Cardinal already being above ground.  Moze is still underground protecting her other two pups, and Poison heads above ground when she hears the commotion.

Also, my writing has changed a LOT in the past year, and it's very likely that I'm going to be taking Poison's development in a different direction and writing her differently than I used to.  I hope this doesn't bother anyone. ))

Quite ignorant to the drama unfolding a short distance away from the group, Kitanda is still at her sentry post when she notices a figure scurrying across the desert.  What stops her from letting out an alarm is the familiar markings - and after a moment, she realizes that it's Pacific, one of the males who had gone missing recently.

But from his behavior... something is wrong.  Very wrong.  She scurries down her tree and bolts for him.  Immediately Pacific lets out a series of alarmed chirps... explaining the situation to Kitanda... her eyes dilate and she barks, calling out for Mzuri.  As the dominant female, her sister needs to hear this.  She resists the urge to go running off by herself -- Moze is her niece, and every instinct is telling her to save her lost family member, but even Kitanda knows it would be foolish to stand against the Lavas alone.
